In this scene, Stefan confronts Damon in the woods after the witch Emily Bennett (while possessing Bonnie) destroys the crystal to stop Katherine and twenty-six other vampires from being freed. Damon is furious because he has been obsessed with finding and bringing back Katherine for over a century, believing the town deserved what happened. Stefan argues that they cannot unleash twenty-six dangerous vampires on innocent people just for revenge. Later, Damon confronts Elena and asks if she loves him, but she tells him the heartbreaking truth that she has never loved him and it was always Stefan.
